Canadian sales tax calculators

Canada does not have a single sales tax rate, and treating it as though it does is the most common error in this category. Alberta charges 5%. Ontario charges 13%. Nova Scotia charges 14%, down from 15% since April 2025. Quebec charges two taxes that are calculated separately. These five calculators handle each of those as a distinct case.

HST provinces collect one blended tax that the CRA administers. GST-plus-PST provinces collect two taxes with two separate administrations, and the provincial half is calculated on the price before GST rather than on top of it. Quebec works the same way as the PST provinces, but calls its provincial half the QST.
