Estate and disability tax calculators

This is the category where a search most often ends in a form asking for your name, email and phone number before it will show you a number. There is no reason for that. The rules are published, the arithmetic is simple, and the answer belongs to you before anyone sells you a service.

Why every province calls this something different

Ontario charges an Estate Administration Tax. British Columbia charges a probate fee. Alberta charges a flat surrogate court fee that tops out quickly. Quebec, uniquely, charges nothing at all on a notarial will.

That naming split is why a single national probate calculator is hard to find — most tools pick one province and quietly ignore the rest. The calculator here asks which province first, then applies that province's own schedule and cites the statute or fee order behind it.
